UPDATE:

The fix seems to be to enable, then disable Kids Corner during which process you will be asked if you want to turn off Live Lock.

I downloaded the Live Lock Screen beta last night, didn't like it, then uninstalled it.

Now when I unlock my phone, it says resuming... and takes a bit to load the screen. It is also dim, and then brightens.

It was doing the resuming delay for other apps before the Lock Screen download last night.

Any ideas?

This is my 3rd 920, the other two were sent back for warranty replacement for overheating when on LTE. I feel like no matter what I do, and despite the fact that I love the Lumia 920 and WP, I am still having serious issues. It's really frustrating liking the overall experience, and yet my phones keep failing on me. I do not abuse them. What gives? :/

Abuse em. Mine only works awesomely because I've beat the crap out of it lol.

Have you tried a hard reset to clear the cache?

I tried holding the power+volume down buttons to reset the phone, if that's what you meant. Didn't work.

I tried changing my touch settings, turning off double-tap-to-wake, camera unlock. Nothing.

Tried reinstalling the app, works fine now. Even shows my calendar like it's supposed to, which it didn't last night, which is why I deleted it.

No idea why it works fine now. Oh well.

I had some issues with Live Lock when I first installed it last night too. Gave it an hour in the corner (on the charger) to think about what it did and it started working just fine.

That's hilarious. I think you just made my day with that. It's been a rough day...Sigh

Thanks.

Terrible luck, man. My 920 worked perfectly for me and now is doing just fine for my buddy.

When's you upgrade? Should be coming up.

November.

Not sure what it going to happen. I want to move to T-Mobile, but I need to see how they behave once they get bought by Sprint/Soft Bank.

I despise ATT for their anti-consumer business practices, but they have a good network and I really can't complain about our connection. (At least where I live. My parents share our plan and have all-but-zero service at their house in VA. That's another story.)

I know I want another WP device, but I have no idea which one. They made everything after the 920 too big. I do not want a phablet and I think the 920 is about the perfect size. I like the heft as well. It feels like a solid, quality phone when you hold it. The newer phones are also not as pretty. Styling is always subjective, but I am a fan of the 920. I ordered it the day you could do so.

I had thought I'd go with the 1020, but now that MS has said it's reached end of service life, I don't want to be stuck with an outdated device for 2 years. I also don't take enough pictures to justify that camera. Though it would be nice to always have a very good camera with you.

MS needs to make another 920, but just update the specs. An HD screen would be nice. Better camera, but not overkill. Roughly the same size, but a real sleek, "I WANT THAT NOW!" design.

If it ran WP, the OnePlus +1 with the bamboo back would be my next pic. I love the idea of bamboo for a cellphone shell.

Unfortunately I dont think what you're looking for is coming any time soon. Major transitions are happening over there.

I know you don't want a phablet but i will say that the 1520 is the best windows phone ever made, and I've used or owned almost every one. The only other option is the Icon, which is nice, but only Verizon unfortunately.

I just switched to TMobile from ATT and i couldn't be happier, though, so depending on how service in your area is, i reccommend it.

Guess I may have to go with the 1020 then. Or just deal with having a 920 for a long while. Good thing they are cheap to buy outright.

Yeah, hopefully MS lets the Nokia designers do what they do best. I want to see some more leading style from my WP devices.

The 1520 is hilariously too large to be a phone. I do not care how good it is, I must have something I can actually put in my front pocket. Consumers are dumb, and bigger is not better. If you can't read your phone screen, then get some damn glasses. Sigh...people. (not attacking you, just people in general)

At home our T-Mo coverage is pretty good; map-wise at least. Haven't actually tried it out for reals. My have T-Mo for my work phone, an iPhone 4, and the 3g is spotty at best at my desk. If I move around the dealership it's okay. It might also be the phone, since it is used and old.

For some people it works. I thought it was pretty ridiculous at first as well, but you get used to it surprisingly quick. But then again I'm a big guy with big hands, so it fits me a bit better.

All that said, I'm done with Windows Phone for now at least. I just picked up an LG G2, so I'm gonna see how I like Android for a while. I'm sick of waiting around for Microsoft to follow through with their ideas and trying to catch up to the competition. Great Nokia hardware let down by the software.

I think you are going to regret that choice here soon. WP 8.1 and the 8.1 update will be out later this summer. Big improvements.

MS is playing catch-up though, you are correct.

Android L looks promising. Hopefully Google can start to reel in all the fragmentation and start making a more uniform experience.

Full disclosure, I worked for Nokia and then Microsoft when we where bought out until just last week when MSFT laid off about half of what they acquired from Nokia. I've been running 8.1 for months now, and while it is a huge improvement over 8.0, it's still behind the competition in many ways.

I'll still keep my Windows Phones around and who knows, if I'm just not digging Android I may switch back, but I don't foresee that happening any time soon. There are a lot of things I really love about WP, but after seeing first hand how these things are handled and how much the hardware is let down by software limitations, it's very discouraging. Especially when seeing the lightning fast pace others are progressing at.

Android fragmentation really is not a problem anymore. When you have dirt cheap phones like the Moto G with its high res display and more than capable processor, there really isn't much of anything you can't do with low end phones that you can with high end. Fragmentation is all but a myth these days. Just look at any high end device out right now, they all run Qualcomm's 800 series chipset, they all have 5"+ 1080p or higher displays, 2 gigs of RAM minimum, and good cameras. Differentiation in this market has slowed tremendously because the manufacturers found a formula that works.

The only real differentiation the OEMs have now is with their software skins, which even those are starting to melt away now that Android is so full featured on its own. Now they skins are mostly all just light weight UI changes and not much more, and everything is moving more and more towards vanilla Android all the time.

Sorry for the long winded reply, this is just a big turning point in the industry right now, and Microsoft is only just now getting the idea. Hopefully Satya can turn this mindset around, and clearly he's already making big changes so I'll be interested to see where he takes the company.

Well, you certainly would be one to know. Wow, I hope you are able to get another gig here soon.

I get why MS would want to have bought Nokia. Having access to all that talent in-house can speed up development considerably. But I bet you don't think all that much of Elop. He really did seem to be a plant just to destabilize Nokia so MS could buy them cheaper, and so he could come back to a huge promotion. I'd love to see Satya can him, but imagine that could never happen.

MS is certainly behind the other two. I hope they can play a long game well enough to build upon their strengths and carve out a bigger slice of the mobile market. WP is really very good now. I don't know of anything it lacks that you can't either live without, or find an alternative. Wider industry support will only come with large market share though, so it remains to be seen how that transpires.

If Android L stacks up as well as it looks, I might have to make the switch. Provided I can find a phone I like first. Damn phablets.

I will probably wait it out and see what develops though. I would get so much shit at work if I switched. One because they bought and pay for an iPhone so I can update our cars before we deliver them to their new owners* And also because I have voiced my dislike for Android because of how fragmented it has been, and how much manufacturers are allowed to muck it up. I despise corporate bloatware.

* I work for a Lexus dealer as a Product Specialist. I teach people how to use all the tech in their new Lexus vehicle. Part of that is uploading our Enform App Suite to the car before I go through it with the customer. The App Suite only works on iOS and Android, and since I have a WP phone, I needed something I could use with our cars.

Maybe I can get an Android for work and claim I need more experience working with it...Hmmm. How much are those OnePlus phones off contract?

The OnePlus One is only available over invite right now, and its not easy to get one. Actually, they are available from Oppomart.com, but not for the super low price that they advertise if you get it dorecrly from them, which is $300 for the 16gb model and $350 for 64gb.

Still though, $389 for that phone is still a hell of a deal: http://www.oppomart.com/oneplus-one.ht…
